Ok…yes, there may be a little bit of skin involved here, but really not a whole lot more than when you put on your bikini for a day at the lake. Boudoir photography is way more about female empowerment and inner sex appeal than it is about simply being a sex kitten and baring it all for the world to see. (Unless you want to be a sex kitten because we love to bring that out here to!)

Historically speaking, the term “boudoir” originated in France to define a woman’s private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. “Boudoir Photography” has been around since the beginning of photographic time but like all erotic art, it has only become more widely acceptable in the last decade or so. Boudoir styled photography gained popularity during the Pin up girl craze in the 1940’s & 50’s and continued on evolving with each decade. Today, Boudoir Photography has become a modern way to celebrate your sexiness. A lot of people still get nervous about bearing it all for the camera, but really these photos are for you and the select audience you wish to show them too. They are as risque or a tame as you want them to be. It’s about allowing yourself to simply be you!

How do I know which Miss Behave Session is for me?

Miss Behave offers 3 different sessions as well as our bi-monthly marathon dates. The Quick & Dirty session lasts about an hour and half and is great if you have 3 different looks that you love. If you are hoping to have an album with quite a few of different looks then we suggest the Late Night Session. With this session we can do up to 6 wardrobe changes and up to 3 backgrounds so it makes for a variety of sexy shots.  Our Overnighter Session is perfect for an all day experience that will give you a large variety of both looks and set ups. With the Overnighter you also get two completely different hair and make up looks so you can explore your naughty and nice side! Our marathon sessions are great for a teaser before you commit to an individual shoot or if you are very comfortable in front of the camera.

What do I bring with me to my shoot?

We suggest bringing as many sexy outfits, props, and shoes as you like. (Now you have a great excuse to go on Victoria Secret and splurge!) As well it is highly recommended that you bring 2 pairs of pull up stockings in either black, fishnet, or seamed up the back.  You can also bring along your iPod with your favorite play lists and a bottle of wine to loosen you up.

What do you suggest for outfits?

Anything can be sexy!! We definitely suggest bringing a corset or a favorite piece of lingerie, a push up bra and matching pantie set, and some boy shorts.  Other idea’s for outfits: a seductive top, hats, his shirt and tie, brightly colorful panties and bra’s (pink, purple, teal, red), lots of personal jewellery ( long necklaces and some bling are great!), sexy skirts, a leather jacket, your favorite LBD, garters, a chiffon scarf, or a a baby doll. Another idea is to bring themed outfits like a retro pin up outfit, a bad cop, a french maid, or a naughty school girl. And of course lots and lots of high heels in lots of different colors and styles!! Just have fun with it!

Do you provide outfits and props for the shoot?

We do have a “Vixen Wardrobe” that you are more than happy to utilize for outfits or to add to the ones you brought. We have everything from a an amazing admiral pin up girl ensemble to a Marie Antoinette outfit. We have petticoats, PVC corsets, heels, vintage jewellery, feather boa’s, feather fan, over-sized feathers, ornate masks, crinoline’s and everything in between. Our sizes vary and we do have ruffle bum panties for sale. We also provide a silk robe for you to wear for hair and make up styling and in between your photo sets.

How many outfits should I bring?

As many as you like and we will tailor them down once you get here. As a loose guideline the Quick & Dirty we can shoot up to 3 outfits, the Late Night Session is up to 6 outfits and the Overnighter session the outfits are unlimited.

What backgrounds and furniture do you have to choose from?

We have a permanent installation of a beautiful purple damask wall with luxurious purple velvet curtains.Our interchangeable backgrounds include a black and white damask, red damask, midnight black, heavenly white, smoky gray, metallic or satin purple, metallic orange, golden stripes, pin up red and white polka dots, hot pink ultra suede and 70’s retro. We also have the most amazing vintage pink couch and matching chair, a leather club chair, a petite ornate classic chair, a leather ottoman which can double as a bed, stools, a lovely pink fun fur rug, sheets, & various blankets. You will also receive a visual on background choices via email once  your session time slot has been secured.

How long is the session?

It depends on which session you have chosen but each shoot takes anywhere from 3–8 hours. Once you arrive we will go through your outfits and start with our wardrobe styling to get your perfectly suited looks. Once we have your looks put together we will make final decisions about your background and prop choices. From there you will go into hair and make up which typically takes about an hour but can vary based on the look you want to achieve. Also there is some additional time added to your shoot for wardrobe and prop changes.

Do I need to use your hair and make up stylist?

No, you don’t have to but they come highly recommended to get the looks that you see on our website. Their services are not only amazing but add to the whole experience of your sex kitten glamorous experience. Make up application for studio photography is very different than everyday make up and both our stylists have been in the industry for over a decade. Plus they are both a lot of fun!

Does Miss Behave have a studio?

Yes, we have a 1500 sq ft studio that is equipped with a hair and make up room, a lounging area, and large photo area. We also have kitchenette so please feel free to bring drinks or a snack along to your shoot. There is also free parking behind our building.

Where is the studio?

Our studio is located in Victoria Crossing just right outside of downtown Calgary. We are easily accessible from all area’s of the city. Once your session has been booked, an email will be sent to you with a map and directions on how to find us.

Do you shoot in a hotel? Or on location?

We prefer to shoot in our studio as we have numerous backdrops, props, and hair and make up area’s on site. We can however come to you for an additional $150 + the charge of the hotel room if applicable.

Is your photographer a female and how long has the photographer been shooting for?

Yes, we have an all female staff here at Miss Behave from our photographer, to our stylist, to our retouching artist. Alix, the principle photographer, got her Photography degree from Alberta College of Art and Design in 2001. She has been shooting all over the city both commercially and personally ever since. She has shot everything from recording artist Ben E. King to international weddings to high profile fashion clientele. She is also the co-owner of Aera Creative Inc, a Calgary design studio, with her fiancee Jai.

Do you retouch the photo’s?

Yes, we do beauty retouching to all of your final images that you have chosen. Our beauty airbrushing includes skin perfecting ( wrinkles, stretch marks, cellulite) and body contouring.  We are also very careful to not overly retouch the photo’s…the last thing we would want is for you not to recognize yourself in the photo’s. We just make it look like you had a great night’s sleep and have been taking very good care of yourself.

Will you help me pose?

Yes! Our photographer will give you a ton of direction throughout the shoot in terms of everything from your poses, to what to do with your hands, to how to obtain that “sexy” look with your facial expressions. She will talk you out of being nervous and get you feeling like an empowered strong woman.

Do I have to be a size 2 to get great photo’s? And what if I don’t like my thighs/tummy/arms?

Not at all and there is no need to worry! Miss Behave celebrates women of all sizes and helps you to embrace your body as it is.  We have an arsenal of poses and lighting techniques that can hide any area’s that you may feel self conscious about but by the end of the shoot the last thing you will be thinking of is your ‘problem area’.

I have a lot of girlfriends that want to come in at the same time. Do you offer boudoir parties?

Yes, we have a “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” Session that is perfect for bachelorette parties, birthday parties or just a great night out with your ladies. We offer the GJWTHF for groups of ladies up to 25 however we can only accommodate up to 8 mini individual shoots over the course of your event. The best part of the evening is getting a large group shot with everyone that attended and it is definitely an experience none of your ladies will ever forget!

Who is your typical customer?

Our ladies come from all different backgrounds ranging in age from 21 all the way past 55. They are modern ladies who are looking for a perfect gift for her partner or is celebrating herself.

Do I have to get naked?

No, not at all! We will do strategically covered topless shots but there is never any full nudity in a typical shoot. Leaving a little to the imagination will drive any man wild! If you are interested in any nude shots a consultation will be required to discuss your idea’s prior to your shoot.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require $150 deposit for the Quick & Dirty Session and $250 for the Late Night and Overnighter Sessions. Deposits are non-refundable and the remaining amount is due the day of the shoot.

How can I pay?

We accept cash, Visa and MasterCard.

I think this is a great gift idea…do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, we have professionally designed gift certificates that are finished off with a perfect little bow.

Will my images appear on your website or in your promotions?

We will never post anything on our site or in our promotional materials unless we have written approval on the specific shots we would like to use. We respect all our clientele’s wishes and there is absolutely no pressure to allow us to use your boudoir images.

How far in advance should I book?

We suggest booking about a month before you would like your shots back. After your boudoir photo session we will get your digital proofs to you within 2 weeks of your shoot date.  Most reprints and albums can be turned around within a week of your order being placed with us. However, our availability on the weekend is booked well in advance so it you are hoping for a Saturday afternoon we suggest getting in touch with us about a month and a half before.

Can I print my pictures if I purchase a disc?

Yes, when you purchase a disc of high resolution files we also include a letter with usage rights and permission to print. These images will also not have any watermarks on them.

How long does it take for me to see my proofs?

Your photo portfolio will be ready within 2 weeks of your shoot unless previously discussed. Orders can be rushed through for $50 fee.

How do I view my images after the shoot?

We will send you a link to our FTP so you may download your photo portfolio directly from your home computer. We can also provide a CD of low resolution digital files if you prefer.

How many digital proofs do I get?

Once your shoot is complete we do an edit of all your shots to pick out the shots where you look nothing less than fabulous.  There is no set number of proofs but on average you get 75–100 shots/hour of shooting.

What is your cancellation policy?

48 hours notice is required before the day of your shoot to be eligible to use your initial deposit towards another session. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.

What if I am really nervous?

Everyone is a little nervous of the idea of getting into your intimates in front of a camera.  We guarantee you by the time you are 10 minutes into your shoot you will have let go of your butterflies and be enjoying every minute of your session. We will coach you along the way and promise you will be just fine.

What if I am not photogenic?

Everyone is their worst critic and we promise that you will be nothing less than thrilled when you see your final results.

What do I do to prepare?

Once you have booked your shoot we also recommend getting hair touch ups, waxing, and manicure/pedicures done to help you get ready for your shoot. You can also consider getting a light spray tan but just make sure that they don’t use the deep orange setting! (We also suggest staying away from self tanners unless you are an expert at application. The last thing you want is streaky legs and orange palms!) The day of your shoot drink plenty of water, moisturize your entire body and don’t forget to have a little snack before you come. If you are getting your hair and make up done please come with a fresh clean face and non-styled hair.

Can I bring my partner/husband/or friend?

We recommend bringing your partner to a consultation appointment but not to your shoot. Then there will still be an element of surprise even if your boudoir photo shoot hasn’t been kept a secret. You are more than welcome to bring a friend to the shoot if it makes you more comfortable. Or even better find a friend that is interested in getting her own shots done and you can go through the experience together. We offer a BFF discount if you come together and you will both get a bonus $25 credit toward your product order. Also keep in mind that this friend should be someone you are ok with getting down to your intimates around.

What products do you offer?

We offer enlargements, canvas prints, albums, leather tri-folds, and calendar design. We also have a list of custom printing that is available upon request .Once  you have booked your session you will receive our full price list and album options via email.

Do you shoot couples or men?

We are open to shooting couples but recommend coming in for a consultation together so we can discuss your expectations for the shoot. Currently we are not shooting Dudoir (men’s boudoir sessions.)

Do you offer consultations?

Yes, we do offer complimentary consultations if you would like to come in and meet us before the day of your shoot.

The Late Night Session includes a 3 hour photo shoot where you really get to explore your sexy side.  It’s not too short, not too long, but just right!  It includes a full styling make over with 2 different hair and make up transformations. With 2 “looks” you can explore both your naughty and nice sides!  It also includes two background changes, 1 variation of your set, up to 6 outfits with a couple of variations, and a CD of your low resolution un-retouched digital proofs.

Additional “looks” and backgrounds can also be added to this package.

+ $300 for beauty styling

The Overnighter Session includes a 4–5 hour photo shoot where you get a full day or evening of pampering yourself to the most unforgettable experience!  It includes a full styling make over with 2 different hair and make up transformations with extra variations. With having the stylists on location for your shoot you can switch your look from innocent to seductive to sassy.  It also includes three background changes, 2 variations of sets and you can bring as many outfits as you like. Included with this package is a 10 page 5 x 7″ Little Black Book album and a DVD with your chosen high resolution files which a perfect memento of your boudoir session.

Additional “looks” and backgrounds can also be added to this package.

What is a marathon session?  Misbehavin’ Marathons will be a bi-monthly event that we will be holding here at our all female Boudoir studio. The marathons are set up so that we can do multiple shoots in one day which allows us to offer you a budget friendly price.   It will include a one hour photo session with light hair styling and make up services.
